For Further Reflection
Read Jn.13:13-17.
Does Jesus insist that He have authority over your life?
Read Romans 12:1.
Whose choice is it that Jesus is to be lord of your life?
Contrast the relationship between father and son with that between master and servant. Which is based on obedience and which on authority?
Have you ever been convicted in your conscience to not do something but continued to insist on your own way and do so anyway? (Example: buy a new car, change churches, quit a job, tell someone what you really thought about them).
What did you learn from that experience?
"Have you ever been faced with the choice between God's way and your way and chosen God's. How did it feel at first? What was the long- term effect?"
