Where Is The Joy?
  • Read Galatians 4:12-20.  Makes notes and observations on the passage.
  • Describe the relationship between Paul and the Galatians when things were going well.
  • Describe the effect on Paul when things were not going so well.  Why do you think the events affected him this way?
  • How would these circumstances affect the joy of the people towards Paul?
  • What are the spiritual ramifications of this battle between Paul and the Judaizers from Jerusalem on the church in Galatia?
  • Read Matthew 13:20-21.  Identify the issues that might destroy one’s joy in the word of God.
  • Trouble is mentioned as one issue.  How might the troubles of life destroy one’s joy in the Lord?
  • Read John 16:33.  How would this verse help you or someone else keep their faith and joy in times of trouble.
  • A second issue Jesus mentions is persecution.  How might persecution affect someone’s joy in the Lord?
  • Read 2 Timothy 3:10-17.  What lessons can we learn from the apostle Paul about dealing with persecution?
  • Pray for the Holy Spirit to restore to you the joy you once had and for strength to overcome the joy killer identified in this study.
