The Straight and Narrow
  • Read Galatians 5:7-15.  Make notes and write down any questions you may have about the passage.
  • Galatians 5:7 says they were running a good race.  What do you thing Paul saw in the Galatians that made him say this?  Reference verses from Galatians that support your point.
  • In Galatians 5:7-15, what does Paul give as an example of disobedience to the truth?
  • What would be the truth they were disobedient to?
  • Read 1 Corinthians 15:1-11.  Beyond just the words, what are some of the truths of the gospel or assumptions that should be obeyed?  (One example: though the words don’t spell it out, the scriptures are our authority)
  • Read Galatians 5:13-14.  According to these verses, what are the temptations associated with this new-found freedom?
  • Read Leviticus 19.  In light of Galatians 5:14, what was the purpose for these commands?
  • According to Galatians 5:13, how can we tell when our desire not to be legalistic produces results not pleasing to God?  Give some examples.
  • Read Galatians 5:15 and Hebrews 12:15.  Make notes on anything that comes to mind as you read these.
  • How would the negative things in these verses affect the person who is doing them in their desire to run the race well?
