Redeeming the Time:
Connecting With People, Part 1: Please God

Read Matthew 25:6-13 and Eph. 5:16.
The parable’s major lesson is that life and time are moving forward. The Christian is dealing with a specific period during which events are working toward the finish of some process, and if he does not take advantage of the present opportunity, it will never come again. Is it in your personal mission statement to redeem or take advantage of time? Consider that Christ could call His church home any day.

Read Ephesians 5:14.
Notice the encouraging reason Paul gives to wake up and carefully mind how we live.

Read Matthew 5:14.
Is there something in your conduct which shows the fruit of the life to which God has called you? Try to reveal one such blessing without pride.

Read Romans 1:18-22.
People – intelligent or simple - deny God because they want to sin. What does this passage call them? How does one reach such people? Consider addressing not their path of life, but their destination.

Read Ecclesiastes 3:7, Lamentations 3: 28-29 and Amos 5:13.
To sometimes stay engaged with people diplomatically, what counsel is gained from these passages?

Read Proverbs 13:17.
As faithful ambassadors of Christ, we ought to bring health, refreshment, and comfort to the people with whom we come into contact.

Characteristics of an ambassador:
1. He is a representative of another culture, another way of life.
2. In this capacity, he does not give his own opinions, but advances the positions of his home country.
3. He functions as a servant or steward, representing his country faithfully.
4. As such, he practices hospitality, courtesy, and graciousness.

Discuss these techniques and consider your ways as you seek to connect with people in your world.
