What We Do Matters

Introduction: The Value of Bible College

1. God controls all Things

a. Jesus is building His church (Mt. 16:18)

b. God is raising up a people to spend eternity with Him.

2. What We Do Matters

a. In the family (Eph. 5-6; Dt. 6)

b. In the community (Role of Palermo Christian Church)

c. In the nation (global impact)

d. In the community (Role of Palermo Christian Church)

e. In the nation (global impact)

3. Example of the Joseph narrative

a. The genre of narrative

b. Tracing the conflicts of the Joseph narrative emphasizing:

  • God's control (often without Joseph's knowledge)

  • Joseph's faithful actions

c. The main example of the Joseph narrative: Gen. 41

Conclusion: God's control of all things should not lead us to a fatalistic view of the future, but encourage us to act all the more. Joseph's faithfulness often seemed pointless, but God used it to save the ancient world. What we do matters.
