Ed said on Sunday that people might ask him how he knows he is going to heaven. His answer is “Because I believed on the Lord Jesus Christ”. He said there is a deeper truth, and that is that those who have faith in Jesus Christ are protected by the power of God’s Holy Spirit, who gave us new life, who indwells us, in whom we are immersed, to guard us until God’s salvation is fully revealed.
How do you know you are going to heaven?
Have you rehearsed your personal salvation story so that you could tell it to a stranger?
Could you share your personal salvation miracle in five minutes or less?
Are you willing to do that, perhaps in your study group this week?
In Acts 8: 25 – 40, Phillip was leading a revival in Samaria and was called by God to leave all those people there and find one Ethiopian eunuch in the desert in Gaza and offer him the gospel. The Lord wanted this one man saved in this account.
When revelation runs up against reason which one usually prevails in your life?
What insight into God’s involvement in each of our lives can you draw from this passage?
Ed said that God has sealed us with His Holy Spirit. Read Isaiah 52:10 and Ezekiel 36:26,27. God has displayed the fullness of His mighty power in you, personally. God works. The creator does not sit back and watch. God delivered you from yourself into union with Him. He gave you a new heart. Each person needs a heart of his/her own to live and thrive. Consider the grace of God who gave His son to die for you personally and reached out to you to give you the faith to believe that and then gave you His Holy Spirit to seal the transaction.
Is there evidence that God is active in your world and in your life today?
How do we achieve spiritual growth? How do we keep the power of the Holy Spirit active in us and through us?
Read John 15:5 and Matthew 6:33.
Ed said good changes have come in our lives since we believed in Christ.
Do you believe this truth?
Do you live it?
Request His presence in you each day and obey Him in faith.
