What To Expect
WHAT IS YOUR SERVICE LIKE?
Sunday Morning Our Sunday morning service begins at 9:00am and ends at 10:00am. During this time we read Scripture, pray, sing songs of praise, give our tithes and offerings, and hear the Bible preached. In terms of songs, we strive to blend old and new. On a given Sunday you might encounter songs from the 16th and 21st century. Preaching at PCC is expositional, meaning that the main points and applications of a given sermon stem from the words found in the Biblical passage being preached. All preaching is gospel-centered, meaning the Bible’s central message of God’s salvation of sinners through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is connected to the passage preached.
Fellowship Time Following our Sunday morning service, we have a time of fellowship from 10:00am until 10:30am. This is a time where we enjoy light refreshments and encourage one another in the faith. This is a good time to talk with our elders and find out about Palermo Christian Church.
Sunday School After the fellowship time, we have Sunday school hour where we learn about God’s Word and its application to all areas of life. Sunday school goes from 10:30am until 11:30am and covers all ages. Presently there are one adult Sunday school class and two children's Sunday school classes (ages 6 thru 10 and ages 11 thru 16). There is also childcare with a curriculum for children ages 0 thru 5.
Sunday Evening Our church family time combines singing, sharing, prayer, and teaching/preaching. We come together at 6pm to praise God in song for around 20 minutes. Then we hear announcements and pray through matters related to our individual lives and the church body’s mission to grow in Christ-likeness and make new disciples. Prayer is followed by a 30 minute interactive teaching/preaching where the congregation answers questions and is free to ask questions or make comments. The evening service concludes at 7pm.
Wednesday Prayer Meeting On Wednesdays from 6:00pm until 7:00pm we gather to focus on prayer. We open with singing. After that we pray for a supported mission, we pray for the spiritual health and mission of Palermo
Christian Church, and we pray for another local church (normally from Maine). Volunteers from the congregation pray for the items presented before the whole group. Then we take personal requests and break into smaller groups for a time of prayer. Prayers in these smaller groups will include personal requests, praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ, prayer for lost people, and prayer for our church.
WHERE DO MY KIDS GO?
Palermo Christian Church is a family friendly church. During our worship hour children are welcome to stay with their parents during the whole service. The morning service is family friendly. Don't be distraught if your child is crying, etc. The pastor might laugh. We're happy to have children in our midst. It's a good thing.
The nursery is available for children ages 0 thru 4 upon request. The pastor's wife might be in the nursery with a toddler attempting to watch the livestream.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Dress tends toward casual, though you can find anything from jeans to suits. Be at ease and wear whatever is most comfortable for you.
AM I EXPECTED TO PUT MONEY IN THE OFFERING PLATE?
If you desire to give, rest assured that Palermo Christian Church takes stewardship of the resources entrusted to us seriously. Members and regular attendees are encouraged to be faithful in their offerings to the Lord. Don’t feel pressured to give if you are visiting with us. Sunday morning giving is not for our guests, rather, it is for those who call Palermo Christian Church "home."
